Appreciation to the Course

At last the course has come to an end after the final examination. The exam was indeed a hard one but i was managed to throw my best in it. Prof and tutors should be saluted for the efforts and hardwork to contribute their knowlegde and ideas to widen our scope in this course. Thanks thanks and thanks to all of them and not forgetting my helpful coursemates who collaborated well in fulfilling the projects. I am relief and pleased for getting such meaningful and useful insights throughout this course...TQ

Creative chat!

Prof introduced to us a different approach in learning. That is using chat as a way to share our vision and at the same time experience chat as a tool for learning.Today we were required to chat on 'how I want my future classroom to be'. We were supposed to think from a technological perspective. It was fun because all of us came out with many creative ideas to make the classroom a perfect one. An air-conditioned classroom, should have internet access, toilets in classroom, each pupils has a computer....and many more! But the question is, will all the ideas come to reality. Well, it is possible if everyone work for it and give full support as they are aware of the miracles of technology. But, in my personal opinion, future teachers should not only focus on technology but give some importance for the non-technological tools or the traditional methods such as flaash cards, authentic materials, classroom games and so on because they are more real and remain in the pupils' mind! So, teachers should form a balance in both technology and non-technology items....

Fish Philosophy! Ops WHats' THat?

Be There, Play, Make Their Day and Choose Your Attitude! These are the 4 main practices in the FISH PHILOSOPHY! FISH! is a continuous journey with good sense that everyone can adopt. It is an invitation that enables people to care about each other and their commitments to the world. It is a practice and a skill that progress over time creating a positive atmosphere for an individual’s workplace and develop a vibrant and energetic culture too.

So... these are some knowledge that i knew about fish philosophy. Our prof did her best in explaining this philosophy to us. She brought in fishes to class and started throwing them to us and asked us to do so..We were stunned and shocked at first. But, then, we realised that it is to do with this Fish Philosophy. Interesting Start i was thinking.. It is applicable for primary kids too because it tends to provide motivation and encouragement to them..So, why don't we try iT??

Final Polish on Notebook Project!

The presentations of our Notebook project moved well. Comments were given by our prof as well as all the tutors. I would say it supported me alot and I take this opportunity to thank those helping hands. I have gone through my piece of work many times and edited my work till it reach my satisfaction. As for now, my project is almost done. Since I just read Ms Ng's post in moodle, i am planning to find out whether my work contains all her requirements. If it's not, definitely i will not hesitate to modify it again since I am in love with this Notebook Software. Seriously, it has given me confidence to teach the kids in future. I can't deny it's benefits!Excellent! In my personal opinion, if each school has atleast one piece of smartboard it would be great and pupils would enjoy it. It tends to keep them progressing in their work too. So, back to my project, well, we going to submit the project in a few days time. I still have some time to do something about it.

2nd approach in Notebook

This week my entire time was spent for the completion of my smart board project. I am so relieved and happy to say that i have done my work with satisfaction. I have worked hard on the assignment by collecting activities, editing them according to my selected target group and modify them to by integrating cretive elements such as animations. The website on 'heathersanimations' really gave a big hand to me in making my project colourful and attractive. My activities developed for Year 5 pupils and i seriously feel that it will be very useful for them to explore on 'prepositions'. By attempting this notebook project of mine, children will be able to acquire and understand all the rules and ideas of prepositions because i have used some pictures too to teach preposition. This is because, i always have the belief that visual learning is very effective. Add to the point, pupils will be automatically attracted to pictures in nature. Moreover, i have also inserted the element making a gradual flow for all my activities so that pupils will be able to do them from easy to diificult. This enhances their motivation to attempt the activities well and at the same time give them confidence. NNext week, we are to choose the best from our group and present our project to the class and our lecturers will be commenting on it. Hope what i have done is appropriate to the context

notebook

The process of planning and collecting details and information for my Notebook project is done. Now it is the time for me to decide on what activity to be chosen to suit the level of proficiency of the pupils. Some requirements are given to us and we are to satisfy all of them. As for now, a few activities have been done but I'm still not very sure whether those activities have the flow or not.So, the editing process is going on time to time. Since this software has a wide scope, we can easily add animations, create shapes,colours with gradient effects and so on. It is very interesting to create activities which are beneficial as well as eye-catching. Another one week to climb up...So, i m very busy manipulating and creating activities right no since the very first file of my Notebook project got corrupted all in a sudden. So, i am trying very hard and putting alot of efforts to make this project a succcess!

Wow, half more to go!

I am trying my level best to explore the smart board software. Wow, it really great.Suprisingly, so so so much of things embedded in it. The magic pen,images, designs, and alot more. I think if schools are provided with smart board facilities of course, students can benefit alot from it. Teachers and students will be more likely in a comfortable and relaxed zone during the teaching and learning process using smart board.At the same time, it is very seful and meaningful too. Well, the smart board project given to us, is obviosly interesting as well as fun. I am seriosly enjoying my journey into this project. As for now, i have done half and another half to fight with. The topic of mine is "prepositions". I have went into the topic in depth. Iv prepared alot of activities for upper primary level pupils. By approaching these activities, i am sure, pupils will have a wider insight on prepositions. It will be very useful for them. CAN'T wait to teach those kids with this smart board!

video reflection and upcoming project! :-)

Prof Maznah and all 78 of us reflected on the video project. It was fun since we got the chance to express the sweet and sour moments we went through in the project.We had a very casual talk among each other sharing our ideas on how to make the video project more meaningful and useful in future. Then, we discovered what were the soft skills used and experienced by us during the entire project when Prof Maznah discussed about it. I was glad that i am able to acquire most of the skills such as cooperation, determination, motivation and etc. Then, another interesting event was added into my diary, the 3rd assignment! Its totally on how to use smartboard notebook to explore on a teaching topic. It sound very enjoying! We were to stick into the same group and start exploring and thank god we were able to divide our jobs and decide on which topic each to be taken. All of us without heart feelings gave green light to each other! And whats next ? Of course, got to prepare and start putting our thought on how to make it a success, rite?

SMART BOARD realy WORTH WHiLE

Well, let put a fullstop for video clip first. its over. This week , we had the chance to approach a smart board experienced user, Ms Fenny during our lesson. She really benefitted us with her ideas on smart board -interacive board. she shared as much as she can. shortly telling, smart board is worth while! You must never miss the chance of learning. just grap the opportunity. Teachers especially can really make use of it in their lesson. what you can't find there? Everything is there awaiting for you in smart board. so, i feel the government should give emphasis on this crucial component and fix each school a smart board so that teachers as well as students can be exposed to the functions of smart board. It easifies and simplifies their jobs and save much time. In our class, although we were already exposed to smart board, but still there were limited chance to explore it, but Ms. Fenny hepled us to explore and teach some new items in it which i found very interseting, meaningful and useful for me as a future teacher. Hope my school in future will have smart board facilities and i can use all my ideas here and apply for my kids in school. We were assigned to do a lesson using smart board , and we have done it as best as we can...:--))

Gained Alot!

After undergoing my video clip project, it is amazing to say that i gained alot from it. I chose Power Director soft ware which was recommended by lecture. It is obviously user friendly and i found it easy to handle it.now i have almost done my job and a sense of relief crossing in my heart. I have made my project as interesting as i can by adding animations, colourful wordings and attracting clips which will sure impress the children.this are some clips from my video clip.hope all uf you will enjoy watching it and feel free to comment in youtube soon.TQ.

Ops, video clip AGAIN!

The drive into this assignment is moving rapidly since the due date is chasing me away. At first, I struggled hard and cracked my head for converters and video editing soft wares. But with the help of my close members, I got them easily. For few days, I was exploring those soft wares to get used to them and now I can say that I am 50% done on my video project. But, still there are a lot for me. I got to do it. It is unbelievable that, nowadays most of my time is spent on the laptop. It’s quite sickening but sometimes I would feel some thrills and excitements in it. Obviously, I am learning a lot of new thing from this. I am very pleased and glad for that. But again, when I started thinking about this assignment, my heart will start pounding hard. Maybe I still have the fear of technology. It should be better when time goes. Hope I’ll do it well!

ALL ABOUT VIDEO CLIP!

To add the excitement in technology, we were assigned to create a video clip for 3 minutes for the ESL classroom. It sounds really fun but somehow challenging, since I never had experience in it. We were required to move in groups although it was an individual assessment. I agree with it because, we can help each other, share ideas and at the same time make sure that all of us are in the same track. So, we brainstormed thoroughly and worked well on what topic to choose. Roughly, our video is going to be somehow related but we are going to explore on five different topics such as occupation, transportation, hobbies, clothes and places. We are going to zoom into the nouns found in those topics. We definitely feel that, it will help the lower primary pupils because they are at the stage of enriching their vocabularies. Actually, we still haven’t immerse into the assignment yet but still at the early planning stage. But some ideas are playing around our mind on which strategy to be used:- puppets, animations, story or song? As for now, we are collecting some software on downloading and editing for the benefit of our assignment. Very soon, we will start working on it since we are crystal clear on the requirement needed. How you as a teacher will be learning.....

Since i'v realised and knew about the benefits and advantages of technology, definitely i'm not going to give away the chance of making use of this. I am in aim to upgrade myself by exploring more and more in this journey.. My expectations on techno are undescribable. I would seek the experts and specialist of this course, attend talks, seminars to gain my knowledge in it. I am really in a strong will to widen my 'hard disc' on dowloading, movie making, blogging, editing and so and so. This will for sure help me in my future plannings in the classroom. Technology is going to be a medium in my teaching since it is welcoming among the children and teenagers. I would say, it is the most effective element which can penetrate the students' heart...So, hopefully, things will get fine, and I can continue my leisure stroll in this garden...I am expecting alot from TECHNOLOGY!

How Technology is going to affect students? How are they going to be learning ?

Technology has become a part of our daily life. Seriouly speaking, none of us are going to be respected if we are outdated on technology. Well, although i'm still a toddler in this marvellous era, i am very much eager to get through it and learn all the colourful boosts in technology. Especially for those teachers and students nowadays, technology plays an extreme role. The school system is also aware of the importance; investing millions on technology use and rapidly transforming into the world of technology. Previously teachers and students struggled hard with the use of chalks and blackboards which affected their heatlh...! some of them even fear to use chalks! NOW..all those barriers have come to a fullstop. Currently, the government and all schools are keen in using white boards, interactive boards, smart boards, LCD's and OHP's. The use of these sophisticated facilities is mushrooming all around the country and world. Students are too enthusiastic to explore those, i would say 'valuable assets' to scaffold their learning as they have tasted the spices in technology. Lets talk about the libraries in schools and universities...The manual system of finding books which wasted the time of students has came to a solution. Now, by just typing the title of the books, students are able to identify the right place of the book. This has easify their life in libraries. In addition, in my view, students nowadays enjoy technology since it is always ready with delicious dishes in it. Everything and anything is there for us in technology. It is overwhelmed with current issues, efficient news, general knowledge and more and more. Thus, students are turning to be more confident and independent because they are always supported by technology. Tremendous animations, power points, colourful photos and video clips have added the interest of students in exploring it. Eventually, this encourage and motivate them to learn more. Internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow. ~Bill Gates.As me, the integration of techno in learning is going to bring a grand success soon! People often argue of the cons of techno....Ehm, you know wherever there is a discovery there will be some groups to discrimate, right? So, why must we worry..Frankly speaking, it is all in our hand and mind of using technology. If you make good use of it, then its beneficial, if not, it might turn the other way around. It's just as simple as that..So, parennts and teachers should make sure students do not get out of the track. In coming times, all learning is going to be taken place through technology. So, lets wait and see how the world is going to be in some times..I would guarantee there is going to be a great...CHANGE!
